Welcome

Applicants

The application season for the full 26 month PA program is open the year prior to matriculation, beginning April 15th and closes on October 1st of each year. After applications are completed, those who are accepted into the program start the first week in June.

Before students are accepted into the program they must complete a Bachelor’s Degree, take the GRE, MAT, or MCAT, as well as all physician assistant prerequisites. Transfer credits may be accepted, and credit is not awarded for prior work experience. Consideration for admission to the Physician Assistant Program is given to candidates with high cumulative and support course grade point averages (GPAs), healthcare experience, letters of recommendation, and those from rural or underserved areas. The most qualified candidates are invited to campus for interviews. Beginning with the class of 2011, thirty students will be offered a position in each class. Application is a two-part process. Initially, prospective students must submit an SIUC generic online graduate school application directly to the Graduate School at http://www.gradschool.siuc.edu/ and apply for the summer term. When that is done, please send official transcripts to the academic advisor of the PA Program and complete the online CASPA application. Applications are accepted from April 15th to October 1st. The SIU PA Program also requires supplemental information be sent to the PA Program for admission consideration in addition to the CASPA application.

Applications for the MCP program are accepted until June 1st of each year or by permission of the Program. Classes for the MCP start the fall semester of each year.
